About the event

Please join The Psychedelic Sisterhood and Dreaming the Circle on Monday, May 22 from 7-10 pm in Brooklyn for a unique opportunity to gather in person for a Calea Zacatechichi Incubation Ceremony and dream circle. Calea Zacatechichi, also called the dream herb, is a shrub that primarily grows in Mexico. Indigenous groups, including the Chontal Maya, have also used it for improved mental clarity and dream enhancement. Reported effects of the plant include lucid dreams, better capability to recall dreams, a better understanding of dream insights, and an increased number of dreams during the night.

During our ceremony, we will engage in the art of dream incubation, a thought technique that aims for a specific dream topic to occur in an attempt to solve a problem or receive guidance. Dream Incubation is an ancient ritual that dates back to ancient Greek traditions. When pairing together an intentional ceremony with Calea Zacatechichi, we may call in some POWERFUL dreams.

Similar to plant medicine and psychedelic experiences, dreams are a portal of sacred medicine in service of healing and wholeness that we are privy to every night. They illuminate our fullest potential, provide insight, and lead us toward inner growth.

There is a reason why we experience more vivid, lucid dreams on the nights after a plant-medicine journey. We are energetically opened up by the plant-medicine, which empowers our dream states and offers us an opportunity for further integration.

"In dreams, as in a psychedelic journey, the imagination is free to mirror and bring deeper truths to the surface through wild images and stories.  The dreaming imagination is not hemmed by the literal, the concrete, or the seen.  Like plant medicine, our eyes open to the invisible world, locating ourselves within the web of all life.

When we dream in community, the medicine of the dream is amplified.  We touch the skin of our belonging, ingest images for healing, and support each other to trust our inner knowing."  -- Jeanie Lee

Sharing our dreams in community amplifies the dream medicine because not only do we dream for ourselves, but we dream for each other and the entire collective. What we feel and receive can be held and shared as medicine for all. After we share dreams, we will drink Calea tea together, inviting this powerful plant to potentize and open the spheres of the dreaming imagination.

Guidelines for dreams:

  • Length: Please bring dreams 1-3 minutes spoken.  This gives space to share more dreams.
  • We encourage dreamers not to bring true nightmares.  As distinct from dreams with high emotion, fear, or anxiety.

Offerings for the evening:

  • Plant Medicine & Dream Discussion
  • Dream Sharing Circle
  • Calea Tea Ceremony (drinking the tea)
  • Dream Incubation
  • Optional additional Dream Work meetup via Zoom (date TBD)

How to prepare:

Please come prepared with a dream that you would like to work on during the dream circle.  Though difficult dreams can be discussed, we recommend saving nightmares to be processed on a 1:1 basis with a facilitator. Please come prepared with a question that you would like guidance with from your dreams. Also, bring a yoga mat or pillow for floor seating.

To prepare yourself to receive the benefits of Calea Zacatechichi, plan to go to sleep directly after the event so that you can receive the benefits of the dream herb. If you are interested in future dream circles and events, please join the Facebook Group.

We hope you will come and share your dreams with us!
